Today I wanted to share a few great way's to get fit and eat well, no matter where you are in the world.
Firstly, here are two book's which I own and highly recommend:
Healing with the medicine of the Prophet -Imam Ibn Qayyim Al-Jauziyah
Food's that Harm - Food's that Heal -Reader's Digest
They really are worth the money and i'm sure will be used for generation's!
Here are a few place's on the web to get some great halal fitness information:
"Fit Muslimah is a health and fitness revolution among Muslim women lead by founder Mubarakah Ibrahim. We give health and fitness information, advice and motivation. In addition we hold several international health and fitness retreats for women throughout the world."
I love reading the little snippet's of health information via facebook update's. They do sometime's help me to get up and work out. I think it's great what Mubarakah is doing mashallah! She even appeared on Oprah!
"SunnahFit is committed to delivering informed and professional services based on reviving the Ummah through physical and mental development. The SunnahFit Team are dedicated towards helping the Ummah in reaching their goals. Our aim is to act as a trusted extension of the Ummah, by providing tutorials, seminars, webinars and much more..."
This one is more for the brother's but sister's can benefit from general information too. There are also some youtube videos on how to do different exercise's which helps and the awrah is always covered mashallah.
"Nadoona is starting a health revolution and our mission is to save the world, one calorie at a time!
Nadoona = "Call on us" in colloquial Arabic and pronounced backwards is 'A New Dawn.' The aim: to transform the way people think, feel, and act about their bodies and provide a completely holistic approach to health and fitness..."
Another organisation for the ladies! Working around weight loss and fitness. They also have their own apparel including a breathable hijab for working out, as well as a long-line hoodie which are great if you can't workout at home!
"Quran foods are based only on foods which are in Paradise. In fact, Quran foods are best for your health and will keep you disease free and help you loose weight . You can expect to see positive results. Start incorporating them in your daily life, start your day with a Quran food."
Focusing on the food's mentioned with The Quran and encouraging the consumption of these is great. I've alway's been interested in how individual food's help us (hence, the two book's above), it is truly amazing, subhanallah. As mentioned on their site, many illnesses stem from the lack of nutrition (or too much of the wrong thing), therefore a better understanding is crucial for us to take care of our bodies which Allah SWT blessed us with.
"My Halal Kitchen is a halal food and cooking blog featuring culinary tips and healthy halal recipes anyone can make. "
Although this page is not directly focusing on fitness, it give's a wide variety of information for the fuel to your fitness - food! I have mentioned this blog before (focusing on natural DIY beauty product's) and I had to include it again as it really is a favourite of mine. Before the mass of Halal food blog's and home cooking blog's I believe this was one of the first to be aimed at Muslim's mashallah.
What I have also done is collected some workout videos where the female awrah is covered, female to female. I find it really annoying when trying to find an exercise video to work out to and the women are half naked, there really isn't any need for it.
The youtube playlist (which will expand further as i find more) can be found here: Halal Workout be sure to add it to your favourites!
What they all have in common is a passion to help other's in becoming healthier, stronger and more positive people within the guideline's of Islam, mashallah!
On the authority of Abu Hamzah Anas bin Maalik (radiAllaahu anhu) - the servant of the Messenger of Allaah (sallAllaahu alayhi wa sallam) - that the Prophet (sallAllaahu alayhi wa sallam) said :
None of you [truly] believes until he loves for his brother that which he loves for himself.
It was related by al-Bukhaaree and Muslim
I pray that all their hard work continue's inshallah.
